At last week’s Northern Ireland Cycling Federation’s AGM local man Anthony Mitchell was again elected to the very influential position of Honorary General Secretary.  It is common knowledge that the most important person in any organisation is not the chairperson, but the secretary who pulls all the strings.

Paul’s Pedal Power
It was reported a few weeks ago that top North Down Cycling Club roadman, Paul Ferguson, was beginning to make quite an impression in off-road events.  Last weekend’s excellently organised XMTB event demonstrated just how far Paul has come as he decimated the opposition on his way to his first victory.

NEW BLOOD FOR NORTH DOWN CC

For a professional cyclist an actual infusion of new blood could lead to
a ban and professional suicide. In the case of North Down Cycling Club,
however, club members are hoping that, following the election of a
number of new faces to the committee, the 'new blood' will bring fresh
ideas and energy that will enable the club to continue to grow and
maintain the successful record of 2007.

Cycling Club AGM
This Monday night’s North Down AGM will be somewhat different as the venue will be the Bokhara restaurant in King’s Street.  Although a meal is not part of the agenda there may be those who wish to either partake before or after the meeting. Either way, all North Down Cycling Club members are asked to attend what is the most important meeting of the year.  The meeting will begin at 7.30 pm and with Harry Adams in the chair and his right-hand man honorary secretary, Anthony Mitchell cracking the whip the proceedings should progress swiftly.

Bokhara Celebrations
The Bokhara Restaurant, King  Street was quite literally bursting at the seams last Monday night when North Down Cycling Club celebrated what has been a remarkably successful year.  In his opening address, club chairman welcomed all those who were attending from neighbouring clubs and, in addition, club sponsors such as Sam Craig, from Aquatech.

After a splendid meal, the awards were handed over by another of the club sponsors, Joy of the Bokhara. Thanks to the efforts of club race secretary, Paul Ferguson, Eric Blayney and Harry Adams, a very comprehensive and diverse racing programme had been delivered in 2007, which produced a multiplicity of award winners.

North Down Cycling Club’s Awards Night

This Monday night promises to be one of the highlights of the North Down Cycling Club’s social season with the annual awards night.  Once again the venue will be one of the club’s major sponsors, The Bokhara in King’s Street, Bangor, with everything commencing at 7.30 sharp with a meal.
