NORTH DOWN CC GET NEW SPONSORS
An important announcement is expected next Monday evening at North Down Cycling Club’s annual general meeting which will be held in the clubrooms at 7.30pm. The club will announce a sponsorship deal for 2006 involving two prominent local businesses, the Bokhara Indian Restaurant and Samuel Craig Construction. The club is delighted to have obtained their support as it moves towards a new season. The 2005 season ended on a high note when North Down CC was nominated Team of the Year at the Northern Ireland Cycling Federation’s annual awards’ night last week. Success at Northern Ireland, Ulster and All Ireland championships for the club’s youth and veteran riders, coupled with a substantial increase in membership, were the decisive factors in achieving this award and the club committee are confident that the support being offered by the new sponsors will help the club move forward to more successes in 2006.

CLUB AGM

All members are encouraged to attend the AGM when a number of important issues are to be discussed. Notices of motion have already been submitted and it is important that members get an opportunity to discuss them before they go to the vote. There are proposals to make slight alterations to the club constitution, concerning the size of the committee. In recent years it has been impossible to fill all the prescribed posts as set down in the existing constitution so a notice has been received proposing to streamline the Officers’ positions to consist of Patron, Hon. Life Members, President, Vice-Presidents, Chairman, Treasurer and Hon. Secretary.

Following from that is a notice proposing that the club committee consist of the Principal Officers i.e. Chairman, Treasurer, Hon. Secretary plus three members elected from the body of the club and that the committee have the right to co-opt members and appoint sub-committees as deemed necessary.

A further notice proposes that club subscriptions be fixed annually by the committee.

New club jerseys for the 2006 season are planned and members will have a chance to voice their opinions on design and colours.
